Just like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, MetroAction and the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce are turning to the community to decide the outcome of the inaugural People’s Choice Award!

As part of the SAGE Awards, which stands for Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence, the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by People’s National Bank, celebrates the community’s favorite area business.  The nominees include finalists from this year’s SAGE.

You may vote once every 24 hours (per IP address) until November 5.  Tell your friends, family and colleagues to get out there and vote for their favorite business!

The winner will be announced at the Chamber’s Awards Gala on November 11 at The Mellow Theater, Lackawanna College.

Military veterans and their spouses may be eligible for small business financing through MetroAction

SBA Patriot Express LoanThanks to the Patriot Express small business loan program, members of the military community, veterans and their spouses can apply for up to $50,000 in small business financing to start or grow a business in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Wayne or Wyoming counties.

Funding can be used for start-up capital, to purchase equipment or machinery, make building improvements or for working capital.

To be eligible, at least 51% of the business must be owned by a member of the military community, including veterans, service-disabled veterans, active-duty service members eligible for the military’s Transition Assistance Program, reservists and National Guard members.
