Big Top Rentals Receives Aid from MetroAction

Farrell’s Big Top Rentals has been a growing family owned and operated business for over a quarter of a century. Now the area’s leading tent and party related accessory business in northeastern Pennsylvania, they offer a competitive advantage over other businesses by adding a personal touch and providing clients everything they would need for a party or event all in one location.

When Big Top Rentals was devastated by the 2011 flooding, Susan Farrell, owner, turned to MetroAction for help and received a loan from The Luzerne County Flood Recovery Loan Program.  She used the loan to purchase equipment, inventory, working capital and finish renovations to their facility damaged by the flood. Thanks to this program, Big Top Rentals was able to remain open and to continue conducting business.

“After the flooding devastated our business, MetroAction worked with us to secure a much-needed loan to get us back on our feet,” Farrell said. “The loan process was quick, stress free and we were able to focus on rebuilding our business rather than worrying about an application process or a lot of paperwork.”

The Luzerne County Flood Recovery Loan Program, spearheaded by Sen. John Yudichak (D-14), is a $4 million loan fund that offers loans up to $100,000 at a 1% interest rate to any Luzerne County business affected by the September 2011 flooding. The funding can be used to refinance any debt incurred as a result of the flooding, purchase equipment, renovations, purchase inventory, cleanup flood damage and for working capital. There are no applications or closing costs associated with this program.
