Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company President Shares Future of Paper on CBS Sunday Morning
The future of paper was the main focus of a special segment that is scheduled to be aired nationally on CBS Sunday Morning on August 16th, 2009. Douglas Fink, President of Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company in Scranton, was invited to share his comments and expertise at CBS Studios in NYC with popular CBS contributor Mo Rocca on where he sees the industry moving and how it will be affected by future advances in technology.
The company, which has been in business for 87 years, has seen many facets of the changing paper world and, especially during these economic times, more ways are being studied on how paper is being manufactured, consumed, recycled, and distributed. The average office worker uses about ten thousand sheets of paper per year and overall paper consumption worldwide is expected to double by 2050. When you take a look at those numbers, you can see why the industry may have some concerns.
The TV show “The Office”, which is set in Scranton, was a topic of discussion as well, and what its impact has been on the image of the paper business. Pennsylvania Paper & Supply was a research location for the show’s pilot episode in 2004, and the building’s tower located at 215 Vine Street is prominently displayed each week in the title sequence of the series. It is a popular tourist attraction and photo opportunity for local tours that take place each Saturday.
Pennsylvania Paper & Supply and its affiliates are the leading comprehensive Facility Management and Packaging Solutions Providers to businesses and organizations throughout Eastern PA and the tri-state area.
