Chamber Members to Save Almost $1,000,000 on Energy through Buying Pool

In March of 2009 the Chamber launched its partnership with OnDemand Energy Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based energy management company. Acting as a group through the energy pool and buying electricity in bulk from a third-party supplier, Chamber members are better positioned to reduce the price spike that northeastern Pennsylvania businesses will experience upon rate cape removal effective January 1, 2010.

Currently, The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce boasts the largest OnDemand energy pool of any Chamber in the state of Pennsylvania. Because of this, we are able to make larger buys in turn saving our members more money. We are estimating that our members who have signed on and participate could collectively save over $1,000,000. Some examples of projected annual savings include:

  • The Mall at Steamtown                    $126,000
  • Scranton Enterprise Center                $31,000
  • Fidelity Deposit & Discount Bank            $20,000
  • Johnson College                        $7,000
  • Pizza by Pappas                        $4,000

The OnDemand Energy Solutions/ChamberChoice energy pool is currently in open enrollment, with no cost to participate, but businesses must be members, in good standing, of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. Interested businesses can obtain additional information by contacting The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce at 570.342.7711, visiting www.scrantonchamber.com or attending a free seminar. The next seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at 1:00PM at The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, 222 Mulberry St. in Scranton. Experts will be on hand to answer questions and assist with enrolment in this free program as well as help businesses figure out their estimated annual savings.
